21 July 2024

A group of Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots is holding a bloodied Cyprus flag reading ''I don't forget,'' gathered at the Ledra Palace checkpoint to protest about the situation in Cyprus, demanding unification and peace between all communities, in Nicosia, Cyprus, on July 20, 2024. The Green Line (or buffer zone) is separating the island since 1963, as an initial measure to prevent hostilities between Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots, but since the Turkish invasion in 1974, it is working as a de facto border between the Republic of Cyprus and the self-declared ''Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,'' which only Turkey recognizes as a legitimate state.

Students from Cyprus held a torch lit protest against the Turkish invasion and occupation on the island of Cyprus, outside of the Turkish consulate in Thessaloniki. Greek Cypriot students with torches in their hands shouted anti-Turkey slogans and formed the slogan "I Don't Forget" on the ground, which they set on fire. A fiery "I don't forget" was formed by Cypriot students and demonstrators outside the Turkish Consulate in Thessaloniki, as part of the protest march against the anniversary of Turkey's recognition of the pseudo-state. The members of the Pan-Cypriot Unified Organization of Students of Thessaloniki who had gathered earlier at the Spiritual Center of the Holy Metropolis arrived outside the Consulate, where the police have set up a barricade from early on. The students with torches in their hands shouted anti-Turkey slogans and then formed the slogan "I Don't Forget" on the ground. They then lit a fire while shouting anti-Turkey slogans. The protest was peaceful. Traffic was stopped and riot police forces deployed outside of the consulate.
