On January 3, 2025, in Madrid, Spain, thousands of Venezuelan nationals residing in Madrid gather at Puerta del Sol to celebrate the U.S. military operation in Venezuela and the subsequent capture of President Nicolas Maduro. The protesters, waving Venezuelan flags and chanting slogans of support, express their strong opposition to Maduro's regime, which they consider oppressive and corrupt. The event also highlights the deep political divisions within the Venezuelan diaspora, with some viewing Maduro's capture as a step towards restoring democracy in Venezuela. Spain is now home to the largest Venezuelan community outside of Venezuela, with over 550,000 Venezuelans, approximately 200,000 of whom live in Madrid. The growing Venezuelan diaspora in Spain reflects the political and economic crisis that forces millions to leave their homeland.
