In late April 2025, shortly after the attack, India's Foreign Secretary announces that the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 is held ''in abeyance with immediate effect,'' stating that the treaty remains suspended ''until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for cross-border terrorism.''
