A barge on the Schuylkill River which became unsecured during high water following Tropical Storm Isaias, collided with a bridge and led to the closure of Interstate 676 through downtown Philadelphia, 5 August 2020. State transportation agency PennDOT said after inspection that the bridge was structurally sound but the highway would need to remain closed another day before the Army Corps of Engineers which oversees the project that engaged the barge, would be able to move it.
