Auschwitz is a German Nazi concentration and extermination camp and remains the most recognizable symbol of the Holocaust. Jews from across Europe, along with Poles, Roma, Sinti, and Soviet prisoners of war, are murdered there. On January 27, 1945, the Red Army enters the camp, liberating its prisoners. Delegations from over 50 countries gather to mark the 80th anniversary of its liberation.
