Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli appraises the lower house, the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, about his upcoming visit to China on August 29, 2025. Oli embarks on a five-day visit to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025. During the visit to Tianjin, the Nepali Prime Minister holds a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines. Oli also attends the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces. This is Oli's second visit to China since becoming prime minister for the fourth time in July last year. Earlier, Oli goes on an official visit to China from December 2 to 5, 2024.

A team of volunteers works on the maintenance of wooden bridges along the Transpantaneira highway, in Pocone, MT, heart of the brazilian Pantanal in Pocone, Mato Grosso, Brazil, on August 29, 2020. The road, which connects Pocone to Porto Jofre, on the margins of the Pantanal Matogrossense National Park, Federal Conservation Unit, has 120 bridges, about 90 of which are made of wood and which threaten to burn without this preventive work. Up to August 29th, 4 of them had already burned, something that should harm displacement during the flood season, when much of the region is flooded, between October and April The brazilian Pantanal - one of the largest tropical floodplains in the world - is suffering since the end of July with the worst wildfires in its registered history. More than 12%, or 16.500 sq. km (almost the size of Kuweit) has already been burned, and the situation may get better only in October, when it's expected to rain.
