A protester shows to driver a placard reading 'Pension, we fought to win it and we're fighting to keep it'. France's labour unions and left parties called for a 6th wave of nationwide strikes and protests against President Emmanuel Macron's plans to make the French work longer before retirement. Unionists and strikers organized blockades and put roadblocks across Toulouse's streets before the demonstration. Policemen came to unlock the streets. The planned reform of pension and retirement age to 64 from 62 is a move opinion polls show is opposed by a vast majority (93%) of workers already facing a cost-of-living crisis. The retirement age would be raised to 64 years (for 43 years of continued work) and the pensions will be lower specially for women, 'short careers' and low wages people. The COR (Counsel of Pension Guidance), which depends of the Prime minister Office directly, said on September 2022 in its latest report that it sees no needs to reform the pension system as it shares in the French GDP will remain steady at least 2070.
