Maria Chimisso of the regional school office attends the naming of the first school after Sammy Basso in Montenero di Bisaccia, Italy, on March 31, 2025. Sammy Basso (born in Schio on December 1, 1995, and died in Asolo on October 5, 2024) is an Italian activist affected by progeria. His family, together with a group of friends, founds the Italian Progeria Sammy Basso Association (A.I.Pro.Sa.B.) in 2005, with the aim of sharing and disseminating knowledge and promoting scientific research on the rare genetic disease.
