The Mexican organization Fundacion MIXTECA presents dance, an altar, and regional costumes from Mexico as part of the celebration of the dead. In August, Mixteca, a Latino non-profit organization, announces that it receives $2.5 million from city officials to purchase a permanent building. City officials state that the investment allows Mixteca to expand its services to a four-story building. With a new headquarters, Mixteca is able to triple its outreach and continue to help the immigrant community in Sunset Park.
