Nepal Army participate in a parade during the Republic Day celebration in Kathmandu, Nepal, on May 29, 2026. Nepal observes the end of May as Republic Week, commemorating the historic declaration of a republic by the first meeting of the popularly elected Constituent Assembly on Jestha 15, 2065 BS. This followed the success of the People's Movement II, which led to the overthrow of the monarchy and the re-establishment of democracy in 2006. The first meeting of the Constituent Assembly on May 28, 2008, declared Nepal a Federal Democratic Republic. Although the parliament at that time was dissolved after failing to promulgate a new constitution, Nepal adopted its first republican constitution with federalism in 2015, marking a milestone in formally ending a decade-long Maoist insurgency.

Protestors carry a banner urging American President Donald Trump to help overthrow the Iranian Islamic Regime as 350,000 Canadians take part in a protest against the Islamic Republic of Iran in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on February 14, 2026. The protest is one of the largest protests ever in Toronto and is part of a Global Day of Action coinciding with other similar protests that take place in major cities around the world. Protesters drape themselves in red, white, and green flags emblazoned with a golden lion and sun, the flag Iran uses before the Islamic Republic comes to power in 1979. The rally is a response to a call by exiled Iranian crown prince Reza Pahlavi to show solidarity with anti-government demonstrators in Iran and support a national uprising of the Iranian people. Protesters call for a regime change and that power in Iran be returned to Reza Pahlavi, the former exiled Crown Prince of Iran and the last heir apparent to the defunct throne of the Imperial State of Iran.
