April 11, 2018-Goyang, South Korea-A View of Korean war Philippines Army monument memories. On September 19, 1950. shortly after the Korean war began with a surprise attack on the South by the Communist North, the Philippines dispatched it's soldiers to take part in the United Nation Forces. The 1.496 strong Philippines contingent thought courageously and successfully in the Battles of Waegwan, Gimcheon, Daegu, Cheorwon, anf the Imjin River. They suffered 92 dead, 293 wounded and 57 missing in action.

The Korean and the U.S. Marines succeeded in the historical Incheon landing openration during the Korean war, and regained Seoul, the capital of Korea, after engaging in countless allied operations, such as the Battle of Mt. Dosol and the battle of Kim Il Seong(924m) Mao Zedong(1,026m) Hights. While the Armistice line was being adjusted during the Armistice talks in july 1951, the 1st combat unit of the Korean marines and the 1st base of the U.S. Marines were located in Jangdan to increase the defense around the metropolitan area. For about a year and four months until the Armistice Agreement was made on July 27, 1953, the Marines fought the relentless attack of their enemies, in cluding four bombing by the Chinese army at the battle of Jangdan(Sacheon River) the battle of bunker hill, and the battle of Goryangpo, and succeeded in defending Seoul and protecting South Korea from communism.
