A bus is in the center of Athens, Greece, on October 10, 2024. A new measure for public transportation is announced by the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Vasilis Oikonomou. He states that the pilot routes for boarding through the ''front door'' to tackle fare evasion in Athens and Thessaloniki, which have already been in place for a month, create high expectations for increasing OSY's revenue. Combating fare evasion is a matter of critical importance, as the failure to collect fares weakens the operation of public transport and is unfair to responsible and law-abiding citizens.
