Police fire tear gas shells during a clash between police, citizens, and students in Kolkata, India, on August 27, 2024, as they take to the streets in response to a call by the West Bengal Student Society to rally in protest towards the administration headquarters of the West Bengal government, demanding the resignation of current Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is also the health minister of the state, following the rape and murder of a second-year junior doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
