Father Krzysztof Sikora seen with his dog 'Rambo' near to the Gowla Fishery, situated in central Connemara, among one of the most beautiful and peaceful landscapes. Geographically, Roundstone parish is considered Ireland's largest parish and stretches from the Gurteen Beaches to the Twelve Bens and Mám Tuirc Mountains. Until the 1990s, the parish was served by three priests, now there is only one to look after five churches. The current Parish Priest, a Polish born Fr Krzysztof Sikora, is a member of the religious congregation of the Divine Word Missionaries. After years of working as a missionary in the Philippines, Germany and Poland, he settled in Ireland in 2007. Originally, Fr Sikora served as a priest of the Polish diaspora at Knock Shrine, and then for a year as a Catholic Curate on Achill Island, until August 2016 when he was appointed as a priest in Roundstone by the Archbishop of Tuam. The locals often refer to him as the 'hunting priest' or 'shooting priest' because Fr Sikora, apart from his religious role, loves hunting, fishing and long nature walks with his dog. As a licensed hunter, he also participates in local deer culling programs in Connemara.
