Pro-EU environmental protesters hold plakards and flags during a march calling on politicians to take action on the climate crisis during the seventh day of the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference, held by UNFCCC inside the COP26 venue - Scottish Event Campus in Glasgow, Scotland on November 6, 2021. COP26, running from October 31 to November 12 in Glasgow, is the most significant climate conference since the 2015 Paris. 250 thousand people gathered on the streets of Glasgow to show their environmental unity.

Today sees the start of the premiership of leading Brexit advocate Boris Johnson, after Theresa May stood down as prime minister over her failure, on three occasions, to get her EU withdrawal bill through Parliament. Johnson, a deeply divisive figure lionised by his supporters as a true champion of Brexit, derided by his critics as lacking seriousness and integrity, beat his Conservative Party leadership rival Jeremy Hunt in a ballot of Tory party members by a margin of two to one.
