Former leader of the UPD party (Union Progreso y Democracia) Rosa Diez (C) claps during a protest by right-wing protesters to denounce controversial Spanish government plans to offer pardons to the jailed Catalan separatists behind the failed 2017 independence bid, in Madrid on June 13, 2021. The demonstration, called by the Union 78 platform, aims to show its repulsion at the possible pardon that the Central Government is going to carry out for the independentistas imprisoned by the 'proces'. The mobilization has had the support of the main opposition parties: PP, Ciudadanos and Vox.

A picture taken on October 17, 2018 shows French-Turkish-Israeli historian and Europe Ecologie-Les Verts Green Party's Senator Esther Benbassa (C) on the Saint-Michel Bridge in Paris, during a rally to commemorate a demonstration by pro-National Liberation Front (FLN) Algerians, on October 17, 1961 in Paris. French President Francois Hollande said on October 17, 2012 that France recognised the "bloody repression" of Algerian protesters in Paris that historians say left dozens, possibly hundreds, dead on October 17, 1961. On that day in 1961, at the call of Algeria's National Liberation Front (FLN), which was fighting for independence from France, between 20,000 and 30,000 men, women and children from Algeria protested in Paris against a police curfew.
