Night view of the Church of Santiago del Burgo in the medieval city of Zamora (Spain), it must have begun at the end of the 11th century or the beginning of the 12th century and ended in the late Romanesque period. It was built to accommodate the parishioners of the new area of El Burgo, hence its name. It is located in the center of the city.

The Castle of Guimaraes is the principal medieval castle in the municipality Guimaraes (declared World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2011), in the northern region of Portugal on April 16 2016. It was built under the orders of Mumadona Dias in the 10th century to defend the monastery from attacks by Moors and Norsemen. The castle is a military fortification grounded primarily in the late Romanesque period, and elaborated during the early Gothic epoch of Portuguese architecture.
