Reps. Diana DeGette, Rashida Tlaib, and Jan Schakowsky, participate in a a press conference on abortion access at the US Capitol. The House of Representatives Pro-choice and Democratic Women’s Caucuses held a press conference on their efforts to protect access to abortion medication. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryck of the Northern District of Texas recently overruled FDA approval of mifepristone, a drug used in medication abortions, and the Supreme Court is due to decide today whether to stay the ruling pending a full hearing.

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) speaks at a press conference on a lawsuit to force the National Archivist to publish the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment to the US Constitution. Oral arguments in the case, Illinois v. Ferriero, were heard September 28, 2022, at the US Court of Appeals in Washington, DC. Amendments do not formally become part of the Constitution until they are published, and the ERA has met all requirements for publication.
