Former Nepali House Speaker and leader of the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Center, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, arrives to participate in the meeting of the socialist bloc in Kathmandu, Nepal, on July 29, 2025. The four-party Socialist Front, comprising CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Communist Party of Nepal, and Nepal Samajwadi Party, holds a meeting after a showdown earlier in March 2025. The gathering comes amid mounting internal pressure on Maoist Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Unified Socialist Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal. Prachanda repeatedly proposes party unification with Nepal, but progress remains stalled. Madhav Nepal is reportedly reluctant due to the risk of internal splits, as several senior leaders in his party are inclined to return to the UML.
