Citizens are protesting in front of the Palace of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in Sofia, Bulgaria, on May 26, 2024. They are disagreeing with the election of the new Metropolitan of the Sliven diocese. In a vote on May 26, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church's governing body, the Holy Synod, is electing Bishop Arseniy of Znepol as the new Metropolitan of the Sliven diocese.
