Jan 24, 2018-Pyeongtaek, South Korea-Kia Motors Corp. vehicles bound for export await shipment as the Hyundai Glovis Co. roll-on/roll-off (RORO) vehicles carrier cargo ship sits docked at the port of Pyeongtaek in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. South Korea's largest automotive conglomerate Hyundai Motor Group joined hands with the government Wednesday to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the face of the recent minimum wage hike, the SMEs ministry said. The group, which has the country's No. 1 carmaker Hyundai Motor Co. and the smaller affiliate Kia Motors Corp. under its wing, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to contribute 50 billion won (US$46.4 million) for its subcontractors hit by the minimum wage increase, the ministry said.
