Tamil Hindu priests perform prayers honouring the Goddess Nagapooshani Amman during a special puja at the historic Nainativu Nagapooshani Amman Hindu Temple (Nainativu Nagapooshani Amman Kovil) on Nainativu Island in the Jaffna region of Sri Lanka. This ancient temple is a significant symbol for the Tamil people and is dedicated to Parvati who is known as Nagapooshani or Bhuvaneswari and her consort, Shiva who is named here as Nayinaar.
