View of the Glienicker Bridge, on 18 August 2019 in Brandenburg, Potsdam, Germany. The Soviet Union and the United States, during the period of the Cold War, used the bridge for a long time to exchange their respective prisoner spies and for this reason the bridge was nicknamed the "bridge of spies". It was a special bridge, as it was only Soviet-controlled on the GDR side and there were no East German troops, unlike the other checkpoints.

'Liffey Ferry' during the inaugural crossing with Samuel Beckett bridge in the background. The historic No 11 Liffey Ferry, the ‘dockers taxi’ that used to link people between the north and south side of the city for more than 300 years, is relaunched again following a 35-year absence. The new service will begin on Monday 11 February, running Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm. It can carry 18 people at a time, and those making the trip will pay €2 for each journey.
