They are showing their support for Palestinian journalists, particularly those covering Israel's war on Gaza. As of February 25, 2024, the Committee to Protect Journalists' preliminary investigations have shown that at least 88 journalists and media workers have been killed since the war began on October 7 in Gaza and the West Bank.
