Railway ticket counters are seen in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on May 17, 2025. All night mail trains and most long-distance train services are cancelled as a result of the strike. The Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters' Union launches a one-day token strike starting at midnight on May 16, 2025.

For years, numerous dishonest exchange office owners have prominently displayed inflated exchange rates or only selling exchange rates, luring unsuspecting tourists. Sadly, these practices persist as cases often go unpunished. Despite investigations, legal action is limited due to complex circumstances. This ongoing situation undermines both tourists' trust and the integrity of these businesses.
