Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson speaks during a vigil in front of a hi-rise building where seventeen people including eight children died in a fire, on January 11, 2022, in the Fordham Heights neighborhood of the Bronx a section of New York City, USA. Early in the investigation it was discovered that multiple space heaters were left running for days, one igniting. Contributing to the death toll was a malfunctioning door that did not close automatically, allowing for deadly toxic smoke to permeate the building.
