Waste left by irregular sub-Saharan migrants in front of the headquarters of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Tunis, Tunisia, on 3 March 2023. Coming from Sierra Leone, Guinea Conakry, Cameroon, Chad or Sudan, countries that often do not have an embassy in Tunis, dozens of sub-Saharan migrants in an irregular situation have been camping outside the IOM headquarters for months. Deprived of any means of subsistence, they have taken to the streets. Some want to benefit from IOM's voluntary repatriation programme, others want to regularise their situation in Tunisia, while others are looking for shelter.
