Workers prepare to bury the carcass of a sperm whale which was washed up on the shores at New Brighton, a coastal suburb of Christchurch, New Zealand on November 05, 2023. This is the fifth sperm whale that has died in the last month with three stranding in Northland and one in Mahia according to an environmental organisation Project Jonah. This whale is around 15 metres long, and is likely to weigh around 40 tonnes.
