A protester holds a placard reading ''a clean record to work with our children, why not to govern us?'' during a demonstration in front of the Court of Justice in Quimper, Brittany, western France, on June 8, 2026. The protest calls for new child protection laws following the disappearance and death of 11-year-old Lyhanna. Public concern has increased in France after reports that the main suspect, Jerome B., a 41-year-old father of two, had been repeatedly accused of sexually abusing children without subsequent protective measures being taken.
