The Wonderful Garden - the first social enterprise in the city of Dobrich, Bulgaria, which employs 16 people with physical and intellectual disabilities. For many of them, this is their first job in life. There are still thousands of people under guardianship in Bulgaria. Maria Metodieva is one of the founders of the St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Foundation and the social enterprise The Wonderful Garden. For more than 22 years, people with various deficits have been working to acquire equal rights and lift their restrictions. Thanks to the foundation, a few years ago a Bulgarian court lifted the ban on a person with a disability for the first time. The only chance for social enterprises to exist and employ people with disabilities are projects and grants. Maria is explicit that there should be a state policy in support of different people, not just short-term projects. The cause is joined by Dr. Hassan Efraimov, who believes that he has achieved enough in his career as a gynecologist, and now wants to fight for a better life for children with disabilities. The two have decided to launch an initiative to enable people with deficits in Dobrich, so they decided to produce and sell flowers because they are as innocent as their children.
