Poster and candle left by members of the KOD (Democracy Defense Committee) who commemorated the fifth anniversary of Piotr Szczsny's death outside the monument to the Fallen Shipyard Workers of 1970 in Gdansk. Piotr Szczesny, a Polish chemist, set himself on fire on October 19, 2017, in protest against the political policy of the ruling right-wing Law and Justice party and political discrimination (racism, homophobia and other forms) in Polish social life. Members of Committee for the Defense of Democracy (KOD) seen protesting next to the monument of Fallen Shipyard Workers of 1970, during the official ceremony on the 40th anniversary of the Gdansk Agreement. Two separate celebrations of the same event were held once again. The former Solidarity leader Lech Waesa joined Polish opposition parties and organizations for the morning celebration. Hundreds of Solidarity members from all over Poland took part in the official afternoon celebrations with President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. A retired worker with a union workers' committees (CCOO) flag participates in a demonstration for a decent pension in Santander, Spain, on 15 April 2018.
