In 1984 Zenit-Automat went into production: it was distinguished by the bayonet attachment Pentax (freely distributed by the parent company) and by a focal shutter with horizontal fabric curtains. The operating mode was limited only to the priority of the diaphragms. The camera was modified in 1988 to include the FZL-84 shutter with vertical action metal curtains, and was renamed Zenit-AM. The Zenit-AM2 was a cheaper version of the same, without the self-timer. on January 30, 2019 in Rome, Italy.
