Marc Dufumier, an agronomist at the AgroParisTech university explains during an interview why green spaces, meadows are effective to cool down a city. The NGO ANV-COP21 and the neighborhood association 'Le Bocage autrement' (ie 'The bocage differently') organized a trees planting session in a pasture (Paleficat zone) inside the limits of the town of Toulouse. More than 60 people planted 244 trees and shrubs. There's still meadows, woods and market gardening the Paleficat zone but the municipality has decided to build on Paleficat for 17,000 inhabitants or more. ANV-Cop21 and 'Le Bocage Autrement' are against this program. They argue Toulouse lacks green spaces to cool the city in summer and for inhabitants to go, that a water tables are only 2m under the soil and France need desperatly market gardening producers. To date, nor the municipality nor the developer have accepted to meet them or even to precise thier project for the Paleficat zone. The Paleficat zone is the latest green and agricultural zone still standing in Toulouse. Toulouse. France. March 18th 2023.
