Indian policemen stand guard as supporters of the ruling Jammu and Kashmir National Conference celebrate after their party's three candidates win the Rajya Sabha seats. The results are declared after the Jammu and Kashmir Rajya Sabha elections held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on October 24, 2025. Rajya Sabha is the upper house of the Indian bicameral parliament, Sansad, and its members are elected every six years by the legislators. The Rajya Sabha elections are the first such polls held in Jammu and Kashmir following the August 5, 2025, abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35 A of the Indian constitution that accorded a semi-autonomous character to Jammu and Kashmir. The ruling National Conference wins 3 out of 4 seats while the Bharatiya Janata Party wins a single seat.

As August 2020 marks full one year 'siege' of Jammu and Kashmir, with abrogation of Article 370 Article 35A and division of the state in 2 union territories. While the seige of Kashmir has been for more than 70 years now, the lockdown has made repression all the more worse. Arrests of activists, journalists, brutal 'fake encounters', genocide and regular curfew hampering education, health and business sectors in Kashmir.
