(EDITOR'S NOTE: Image depicts death) A Ukrainian priest is conducting a service in front of a coffin containing the body of German combat medic Diana Savita Wagner, who volunteered for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and was killed by Russian troops at the front in eastern Ukraine. The farewell ceremony is taking place at the Mikhailovskiy Cathedral in Kyiv, Ukraine, on February 14, 2024, amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The 36-year-old German combat medic, known by her call sign 'Snake,' had come to Ukraine before the start of the Russian large-scale invasion. She was enamored with Ukrainian culture and traditions, studied the Ukrainian language, and dreamed of becoming Ukrainian, as local media report. Originally from Germany, Wagner volunteered for the International Legion and served as a combat medic in the assault squadron of the Carpathian Sich battalion. Her comrades say she was a professional in her field and, thanks to her efforts, the lives of more than a dozen soldiers were saved.
