Emigrant activists of the Association of Indigenous Peoples of Russia wearing hazmat suits picket the German Embassy with the demand to audit Russian oil companies that had exported crude oil to EU countries and, activists believe, it had led to an environmental catastrophe in Tatarstan, in Kyiv, Ukraine, May 13, 2019. Russias Investigative Committee identified six suspects in the contamination of millions of barrels of crude, which shut down pipeline shipments to some European countries. In March and April this year, some of the suspects allegedly supplied oil contaminated with organic chlorides to a pipeline point in Russias Samara region to hide oil theft, the Committee said, without elaborating on the details of the crime.
