Protestors gathered for a demonstration, as part of a nationwide day of strikes and protests called by unions over the proposed pensions overhaul, in Paris on March 11, 2023. The reform proposed by the government includes the raise of the minimum retirement age from 62 to 64 years and the increase of the number of years people have to make contributions for a full pension. Unions have vowed to keep up the pressure on the government, with a seventh day of mass protests, and some have even said they would keep up rolling indefinite strikes. Clashes have erupted between the police and the black bloc during the demonstration.

The architecture of the house is unique as it has no posts supporting its frame, but instead has vertical plank sheathing as the frame support. The Munshaw family, originally Munschauer, was one of the first families to settle in present day Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. The George Munshaw House was designated as a heritage property in 1987.
