A man walks near a poster bearing the 'Please Believe These Days Will Pass' message of hope, by artist Mark Titchner, on Bruton Street in the Mayfair district of London, England, on April 27, 2020. Britain began its sixth week of coronavirus lockdown today, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson this morning urging the country for continued patience with the measures as the UK comes through its 'peak' of covid-19 cases and deaths. In recent weeks clamour has been growing for the government to set out its thinking on when and how the country could begin to shed some of the restrictions currently in place, with growing fears over the economic damage being wrought. In his speech this morning, the prime minister indicated that the government would provide information on this in the days ahead. Johnson himself has reportedly become more cautious over releasing the country from lockdown following his own experience with the virus, which put him in intensive care at St Thomas' Hospital in London for several days earlier this month.
