An Iranian man places bread on a shelf to cool outside a traditional bakery in a local bazaar near a residential area hit by an Israeli airstrike in Astaneh-ye Ashrafiyeh, Iran, on August 20, 2025. Seventeen civilians, including Mohammad Reza Seddighi Saber, a senior Iranian nuclear scientist and high-ranking member of the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and his family, are killed in an Israeli airstrike on the northern Iranian city of Astaneh-ye Ashrafiyeh in Gilan Province, just hours before a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
