Snow-capped Mount Mahadev, also known as Kohe Jabbar, the highest peak of the Zabarwan Range and the highest point in Srinagar, is seen under dramatic clouds from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on May 16, 2026. Glaciers across the Kashmir Himalayas have shrunk rapidly over the past several decades as rising temperatures, reduced snowfall, and changing weather patterns accelerate ice loss in the region. Recent scientific studies indicate that some glaciers, including the Thajiwas Glacier in Sonamarg, have lost nearly 88 percent of their ice volume, while broader research suggests Kashmir has lost nearly 25-30 percent of its glaciers over the last six decades. Climate experts and international reports warn that the rapid retreat of Himalayan glaciers threatens rivers, agriculture, ecosystems, and water supplies for millions across South Asia.

Searching mothers from various states across Mexico conduct search operations and find more than 500 human bone fragments on the border of Chalco, State of Mexico, and Tlahuac, Mexico City. Eight months ago, 75 human bone fragments were located in the same area, and the searching mothers question why authorities halted the search. According to the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City and the Commission for the Search of Persons of the capital, preliminary analyses during the Search Day by Patterns have explored 41,219 square meters on the surface and 127,331 square meters in the lake area between the limits of the Tlahuac borough and the municipality of Chalco, State of Mexico.

On December 29, 2025, a conservationist, Sayed Zainal, surveys several areas significantly impacted by flash floods resulting from Tropical Cyclone Senyar in the Lubuk Sidup region, located within the Sekerak Subdistrict of Aceh Tamiang District, Aceh, Indonesia. The cyclone results in the loss of at least 1,167 lives in Indonesia and over 1,400 across three Asia-Pacific countries, with estimated economic damages amounting to approximately USD 19.8 billion. The disruption of vital access in Sekerak is a grim indicator of a broader pattern of ecological disasters that increasingly threaten the fragile Leuser Ecosystem, as emphasized by Sayed Zainal, Director of the Sustainable Forest Advocacy Institute.
