Riot police units pass Infront of a shop with Christmas decoration on the display. Large scale demonstration on November 17, 2022 to commemorate the Athens Polytechnic University student uprising anniversary against the ruling military junta dictatorship in 1973. Around 15.000 people, including left parties student associations, civilians, students, labor unions, leftists, antifa, anarchists and other groups marched in the city of Thessaloniki. Protesters burned American flags in front of the US consulate. Slogans and banners were against NATO, police and the government. Clashes broke out after the end of the protest, when face covered, black hooded groups entered the Polytechnic faculty in the Aristotle University and threw stones, petrol bombs, molotov cocktails, fireworks to the riot police forces, who responded with tear gas and stun grenades in addition to the water cannon vehicle. 87 arrests have been made.
