Makkal Needhi Maiam chief and Indian Actor Kamal Haasan a 'political' meet with the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee after the meeting a press conferences along with State Minister Amit Mitra and Sujit Bose present on March 25,2019 in Kolkata,India. The actor-turned-politician shared of his 'old relationship' with TMC supremo and said that he is here to seek 'best wishes' from her. Haasan on Sunday had announced that he would not contest in either of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls or the Tamil Nadu bypolls which will be held along with the General elections. The Makkal Needhi Maiam president, however, put his weight behind the candidates of his party, suggesting he will provide them complete support in both the Lok Sabha elections as well as the assembly elections. He said, "We are alone there fighting 40 seats for the MP and 18 seats for the byelections. Our relationship with the chief minister is quite old to get my best wishes from her again like I did last time, let's see where it takes me." Meanwhile, Haasan also told the media that he has three Oppositions in Tamil Nadu and even took a dig at the Centre for 'opposing progress' in the country. The upcoming Lok Sabha polls will commence on April 11, will be held in seven phases, and conclude on May 19 with the counting of votes taking place on May 23. Tamil Nadu as a state holds the third largest number of seats (39) in the lower house of the parliament. The election in the state will take place in a single phase, which will be held on April 18. The bypolls in the state will also be held at the same time.
