Members of the Chicago Fire Department wash down blood and fireworks debris following an overnight mass shooting where seven people sustain serious and critical injuries on the 4800 block of South Justine Street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois, United States, on July 5, 2025. Seven people are shot in a mass shooting after 11:00 PM, Friday evening on the July 4th Holiday. Preliminary investigation indicates that two unknown male suspects approach the victims on foot. An unknown suspect displays a firearm and opens fire into a crowd of people who are standing outside, striking multiple individuals. No one is in custody. A 27-year-old female sustains a gunshot wound to the left leg and is listed in serious condition at Mt Sinai Hospital. A 21-year-old female sustains a gunshot wound to the right thigh and is listed in serious condition at Mt Sinai Hospital. A 21-year-old male sustains gunshot wounds to the right quad and right foot and is listed in serious condition at Mt Sinai Hospital. A 29-year-old male sustains a gunshot wound to the left arm and is listed in serious condition at University of Chicago Hospital. A 25-year-old female sustains a gunshot wound to the left flank and is listed in serious condition at University of Chicago Hospital.
