Demonstrators march through central Warsaw during the Great March for Animals, Sunday, April 26, 2026, calling on parliament to overturn President Karol Nawrocki's veto of a law that would have banned keeping dogs chained up. Nawrocki vetoed the legislation in December 2025, arguing that provisions requiring minimum kennel sizes were unrealistic and would harm farmers and rural households. Parliament's attempt to override the veto — which would require a three-fifths majority — failed to garner enough support after Law and Justice MPs who had initially backed the bill declined to vote against the president they helped elect.

Propalestinian students are protesting after the rector of the Jagiellonian University rejected a resolution condemning the genocide in the Gaza Strip on June 26, 2024, in Krakow, Poland. On October 7, at 6:30 a.m., Hamas is attacking Israel with rockets, and militants are entering its territory. Israel is responding with daily missile attacks and cutting off water, food, and electricity supplies. The Gaza Strip is inhabited by 2.2 million people, half of whom are women and children. The victims are already being counted in thousands. Propalestinian student protests are underway at universities in many countries. Students of the Jagiellonian University are making petitions with signatures regarding the Jagiellonian University's position towards Israel's activities and are beginning an occupational strike at the university. After the rector rejected the resolution condemning people, they are chaining themselves to the gates of Collegium Novum.
