The front gate of Gonjiam Middle School is seen in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, on July 16, 2025. The school is one of the sites hosting the Ministry of Justice's mentoring program for migrant-background youth. Launched in 2024 as a pilot initiative, the program selects 39 mentors from 21 countries to help students of foreign or multicultural backgrounds adapt to Korean society. It operates in classrooms located in municipalities that are members of the Council of Multicultural Cities and have high immigrant populations, based on local government participation. Due to high satisfaction among students, the program expands in 2025 to include two semesters with 20 double-period sessions each, compared to ten single-period sessions in 2024.

Afghan female teacher, Mahboobeh Mohammadi-32 who has born in Iran, checks the size of a school uniform for an Afghan refugee schoolgirl in a classroom at the Farhang school in the first day of the new academic year، in southern Tehran on November 1, 2021. Farhang school has founded in 2000 by the Afghan refugee Nader Mousavi who has graduated with a master degree in sociology from the University of Tehran, for Afghan refugee children, and now two years after the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in Iran, where the school was operating part-time, it started operating full-time and Afghan schoolgirls and schoolboys can attend the school. Families do have not to pay money for the tuition as it is free for Afghan refugees.

Students at UMC High School walked out of class to protest planned education cuts by Premier Doug Ford and the Ontario government on Thursday April 4, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Over 100,000 students from 700 schools from across Ontario walked out of their classrooms to participate in this massive walkout. The protest stems from the announced changes to the education system which includes an almost $100 million cut in job funding, the loss of 18,000 teaching jobs, the modification to the health and physical education curriculum, and an almost 30% increase in high school class sizes.
