On September 13, 2024, in Mexico City, Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, President of Mexico; Claudia Sheinbaum, President-elect of Mexico; and representatives of the Secretary of National Defense and Secretary of the Navy meet to commemorate the 177th Anniversary of the Heroic Deed of the Heroic Children of Chapultepec. The Battle of Chapultepec takes place as part of the War of 1847, when the United States invades Mexico under the accusation of having seized the territory of Texas, which belongs to the Mexican nation since colonial times. The North American troops arrive at Chapultepec Castle where they are awaited by 700 Mexican soldiers and some cadets of the Military College, all of them led by General Nicolas Bravo, hero of the Mexican Independence.
