The demonstration brings together hundreds of human rights defenders, feminist activists, opposition parties, civil society members, and ordinary Tunisians, who denounce what protesters describe as a growing crackdown on freedoms, criminalization of civil society, and restrictions on public space imposed by Tunisian authorities. Participants also condemn the suspension of the activities of dozens of associations and organizations, as well as the rising gender-based violence. Demonstrators with Palestinian scarves (keffiyeh) on their shoulders chant pro-Palestinian slogans while holding up Palestinian flags and a placard that reads in Arabic, ''We demand the criminalization of the normalization with Israel,'' during a national march organized by the Tunisian Order of Lawyers in Tunis, Tunisia, on April 09, 2025, to protest against the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza and to call for an end to the Israeli bombardment. The demonstrators express their support for the Palestinian people, the Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas, and the Palestinian resistance. They denounce what they consider crimes of the Israeli occupation, the genocidal war, and the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza committed by Israel. They also condemn the international silence, as well as what they describe as American arrogance and the treason of the Arab regimes in the midst of the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.
