At least 28 tourists die and dozens more are wounded when suspected militants open fire on a group of visitors in the Baisaran meadow area, a tourist spot near Pahalgam, on April 22, 2025. Security forces cordon off the area and launch a large-scale search operation to track down the assailants. Authorities condemn the assault, calling it one of the deadliest attacks targeting civilians in Kashmir in recent years.
