An advertisement billboard for Apple's latest iPhone 17 Pro is seen at an electronics store in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, on December 02, 2025. India's telecoms ministry directs smartphone manufacturers to pre-install a government-run cybersecurity app on all new devices, according to a government order, raising concerns of data privacy and user consent in one of the largest handset markets in the world. Meanwhile, Apple does not plan to comply with a mandate to preload its smartphones with a state-owned cyber safety app and will convey its concerns to New Delhi, three sources say, after the government's move sparks surveillance concerns and a political uproar.

Fishermen wait during direct sales after the fishing ban in Molfetta, Italy, on September 30, 2025. As of yesterday, fishing boats from the Bari area (from Molfetta to Giovinazzo, Santo Spirito, Bari, Torre a Mare, Mola, and Monopoli) return to sea. After a month and a half, the 45 consecutive days of mandatory stoppage for trawlers, as ordered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, expire. However, there are still problems: fishing companies wait for the subsidy for the 2023 and 2024 stoppage.

A Capitol Police officer’s sunglasses reflect the line formed by his colleagues during a protest against Congress’s likely vote to overturn the first revision of Washington, DC’s criminal code in more than 100 years. The controversy over the bill stems from two issues: autonomy for the District of Columbia and changes in sentencing guidelines. In voting not to approve the bill, Congress will override the decision of DC’s duly elected representatives, almost half of whom are African-American.
