A Tweet by the French AFP agency shows news of the Polish government demanding war reparations from Germany worth 6.2 trillion Zloty, equal to 1.3 trillion Euros in this photo illustration in Warsaw, Poland on 01 September, 2022. The Polish government has been at odds with its German counterparts over the demand of war reparations for damages incurred by the Nazi regime during the Second World War. Poland claims that earlier settlements were made by an illigitimate government, that of the Soviet controlled Republic of Poland (PRL). The current Polish government therefore is again demanding reparation costs. Critics argue the spat is merely a distraction from growing domestic problems such as rising inflation and energy costs.
